HISTORY OF HILLS POKER TOUR

Hills Poker Tour started as an idea thrown around a table of pissed idiots. This came about as our regular poker venue at the Country Club choose to discontinue it's poker affiliation. Everybody agreed that it was an excellent idea to form our own poker club. There was one problem. We had no venue to hold each weeks tournament. Luckily for everyone involved Peter Cock's Office had just moved from North Ryde to Castle Hill. and Peter offered to let us use his office as the venue for Hills Poker Tour. Our first night was held on Monday, 26Th May 2007 with a field of 10 starters. Obviously it was our first attempt at running a semi-serious poker tournament, so we had a few teething problems. With help from a lot of people we have grown a lot in a short period of time. It has grown from 10 people on the first night to having nearly 50 people experiencing the Hills Poker Tour. We have gone from using tables that were like air hockey tables to fully felted & padded poker tables. The cards have been changed from cardboard cards to full plastic Copag cards. The poker chips have improved to have the values printed on them after a few early complaints. We have had some characters and a few undesirables through the doors but we have still managed to create an excellent poker atmosphere. The group of people who attend each week have made this atmosphere with some serious poker (sometimes) and a lot of banter. On behalf of everyone who has enjoyed the Hills Poker Tour experience we would like to thank Peter for letting us use his office and time for running the Hills Poker Tour. We would also like to thank everyone else who helps with the running of Hills Poker Tour.

After a few years of HPT running it has seen a lot of changes. We have played out of a few different place. A lot of players have come and gone. From at 1 stage running 4-5 full tables it died down to 4-5 players playing every 2-3 weeks, to a once in a while game on a weekend.

Then came along the global pandemic. With everyone in lock down we had nothing else to do but play poker online and of the night of 23 April 2020 HPT ONLINE was born. Since we have started we have players from all over Australia. We have run 4 complete seasons and also introduced special games and special events like the Bracelet Series.
